Ala Ajag Ijig

This is new in town.

This restaurant/café located in the central of Jakarta, and it’s located at Jl. Ir. H. Juanda. Very fresh, new, and insist to be looked out.

One fine night, after office hour, my friend and I were trying to find a place to chillin’.

At first we’d like to find place where we can eat ice cream, but our eyes caught this new place, with unique name; Ajag Ijig.

Placed at hoek/corner of the street, designed with mix style such old /street /modern style at once, but after we looked inside, it’s modern but described the town itself.

It served such heavy meals, light bite, with fresh drinks and any usual menu like other restaurants.

Since we’re searched for a light bite, we ordered toast and fried tofu (pong). My friend ordered Nutella toast with café latte while I ordered fried tofu (pong) with mocha latte.

We enjoyed the food they’ve served, with coffee art they’ve done to our coffee. But actually what we’re amazed and enjoyed was the ambience /design that they have. It was so comfortable; in the other side they designed the restaurant with picture of the town mascot. Mascot that we called Ondel—Ondel. It has old-styled floor; Dutch-style floor. This makes the ambience more unique. It also has second floor, but we only used the first floor since the restaurant still has few customers that night.

I think this place is very nice for simple hang out or chit chat with friend(s) or colleague(s) or maybe family. A new place to hang out! 🙂

Enjoying Seafood like Manhattan Way

Serving It Up The Manhattan Way!

Manhattan  Manhattan

Last weekend I ate one of my favorite menu: Fish and Chips.

For this meal me and my friend went to a seafood restaurant in one of the biggest mall in Jakarta, Lotte Avenue Shopping Mall (or LOVE mall), located on the fourth floor near the theatre. The Manhattan Fish Market restaurant.

The restaurant itself wasn’t a new place for me, but I just love the food and the ambience. I love the fish and how it was cooked, the environment always be a bonus for me. Sometimes good food not always covered with a good place, but a good place always served good food. Ha! 😀

Though the restaurant located in many malls, but in each mall it has its own signature, and for this mall, I love the ambience. They created a simple view and decoration yet comfortable.

Fish and Chips.

Favorite of all-time. The crunchy-floured dory fish and served with fries and sauces. The fish was so soft and crisp. I love how this restaurant made the fish so crisp and delicious. I just can’t explain more how I love the dish!

Manhattan

Citrus Baked Seafood.

My friend chose a bowl of rice with a perfect combination. “An assortment of dory fish, baby octopus, and scallops baked with tangy marinade with garden herbs” well said by the menu book. The rice itself was so tasty and you can imagine how good was the combination.

To company our meal, we chose a usual beverage: lemon tea and blackcurrant. Well, not only usual and common but also free refill.

Though this restaurant was quite pricey, but I will come to this place again and again. Not only to satisfy my stomach but for the comfortable that I got.

Well worth 🙂

Let’s have a bun!

Three Buns. Burger & Cocktails.

Food for the Neighbourhood.

Started from an idea with my colleagues to hangout together during public holiday, we started to search a new place to go. We chose place that located around Senopati street (south of Jakarta). Since Senopati street was just like centre of cafes and restaurants, but those places were quite costly. So it’s not like an ordinary food street area, it’s extraordinary, you need to load your wallet first before you go to that area (and we did) 😀

We chose to try a burger restaurant. It’s located on Senopati Raya street No. 90, Kebayoran Baru, South of Jakarta, Indonesia. We arrived around 12 PM and it’s already opened since 11 AM. It had a funny logo: head of bulldog. At first sight, the place was so simple and not like ordinary restaurant. This place was made with modern but also simple, with minim chair and table. It was all modified nicely. The place gave us new experience with the view. Oh, also with the roof. They used plastic and transparant. So when the sun smiles and shines brightly you better wrap yourself with the comfiest shirt and (short) pants.

Since the place was new, people loaded the place immediately. We had to wait to be seated.

When we finally seated, we had to order directly “on the vintage van”. We ordered and paid “on the van”. They gave us number for us to take our meals on the other side and paper to be changed with our beverages. We chose: “Baby Huey” (prime 150g beef patty, cheese, lettuce, ketchup, pickles & spiced mayo) and “Four Floors” (double prime 100g beef patties, double cheese, triple onions, lettuce, pickles, ketchup & den miso mayo). Note: the Four Floors was the most expensive and famous one, also the huge one. For the side, we chose Naughty Fries (spiced bearnaise, beef chilli, crisp shallots, Parmesan & sesame seeds). The fries was the tasty and really a good companion for our meal.

We chose the light beverage to company our meal: “Sherbie Hancock” (sherbet lemonade with orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit). So fresh and light. Very good as our companion. They provided all beverages with thier homemade soda, other than soda, they served alcohol, wine, tea, coffee, and mineral water.

IMG_3862   IMG_3856  …Our fresh Sherbie Hancock!

The Burger. It’s not fully tasty like Asian taste. It’s more over like West taste. For me, it’s new since I never taste the burger like this. The beef was medium cooked and well served with other ingredients. For me, it’s worth enough with the price.

Overall, the place was nice, the meals were awesome and new, the sides were as well as the meals, and all were packaged with worth price and experience 🙂

So if you search a burger restaurant and need a new ambience, you can try Three Buns and have your buns!

Hangover Horse!

That Hangover Horse.

Just like a room that customized into a mini cafe.

One day, me and a friend of mine trying to find something new around central of Jakarta. We found a unique name on the web “That Hangover Horse”. Such a unique name for us, and then we decided to go and try what so unique over there. It’s located at Wisma Geha- Basement floor, Timor Street No. 25, MH. Thamrin, Central of Jakarta (right after Sarinah building) The cafe was located in the basement, and it’s not hard to be found. Right after we entered the area of Wisma Geha (from back side), the basement was straight in front of us. We just need to climbed down a little steps and go to the right, then get into the cafe.

The cafe was small yet comfortable, especially if you bring a little group of yours. Since we went for lunch, the cafe served only for the two of us 😀 The cafe was a little rock, served with the LCD TV for karaoke, decorated with empty bottles (such wines and alcohols), mini characters display, cute character mugs, and also a mini bar. So, if you really want to be hangover with your little group, this place’s rock!

We tried their meals: macaroni mac & cheese and their signature garlic rice. The macaroni served just like usual pasta but the taste was good. The cheese and ham were mixed well enough with the pasta. Their garlic rice was great. The rice was heart-shaped and served you with three hearts, served also with mushrooms and chickens. This garlic rice was unique and new for us.

For our beverages, we chose the simple hot lemon tea and “teh tarik”. Here comes the dessert. Since we searched for something unique, we chose their pudding with caramel Bailey syrup. The taste was sweet (for the caramel) and quite strong (for the alcohol-from the Bailey’s)

Overall, this place’s rock and simple yet comfortable
